"Gift From People Of Tamil Nadu To Kashi": PM Modi Launches India's First Green Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vessel, Here's All About It

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's first indigenous green hydrogen fuel cell inland waterway vessel under the Harit Nauka initiative in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi, as per a report by The Economic Times.

The hydrogen-fueled electric vessel is part of India's efforts to adopt innovative and sustainable green energy solutions.

During the launch, PM Modi referred to the vessel as a gift from the people of Tamil Nadu to Kashi.

This initiative reflects India's commitment to exploring new technologies for green energy and cost-effective alternative fuels. Hydrogen fuel cells offer a wide range of applications, including transportation, material handling, stationary, portable, and emergency backup power.

In addition to the vessel launch, PM Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various development projects worth over Rs 17,300 crore in Thoothukudi. These projects include the Outer Harbour Container Terminal at VO Chidambaranar Port, which will require an investment of Rs 7,000 crore.

The Prime Minister also dedicated tourist facilities at 75 lighthouses across 10 states and UTs.

He highlighted the significance of these projects in boosting connectivity, reducing travel time, and promoting trade and tourism in Tamil Nadu.

PM Modi emphasised the government's commitment to improving connectivity and opportunities in Tamil Nadu through a multi-modal approach involving railways, roads, and maritime projects. He praised the efforts to develop prime lighthouses into tourist destinations and expressed confidence that these initiatives would contribute to the growth of tourism in the region.

Highlighting the government's infrastructure projects in Tamil Nadu, PM Modi mentioned the development of rail projects, including electrification and modernisation of railway stations, as well as investments in road infrastructure.

He also highlighted the growth of the maritime sector in Tamil Nadu, citing the increase in traffic and port capacity.

In conclusion, PM Modi expressed his confidence in Tamil Nadu's development and reiterated his commitment to serving the people of the state.

He called on everyone to join in celebrating the festival of development by switching on their phone lights. Governor of Tamil Nadu RN Ravi, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, and Union Minister of State L Murugan were among those present at the event.
