Here's Why Indian Railways Barred Diesel Generators Supplier Jakson Ventures, For Two Years

In a significant move, the Indian Railways has imposed a two-year ban on Jakson Ventures Private Ltd (JVPL), a prominent supplier of diesel generators in the country.

JVPL, which serves as the authorised dealer for Cummins Inc., is a leading diesel genset manufacturer based in the United States.

As reported by Economic Times, government officials, familiar with the matter, revealed that JVPL had allegedly submitted forged documents, falsely certifying earnest money deposit (EMD) as a bank guarantee, during a bidding process conducted by the Central Periodical Overhauling (CPOH) Workshop of the Indian Railways in Prayagraj.

The controversy surfaced when the CPOH identified discrepancies in the documents provided by JVPL.

These documents were critical to the tender bidding process, serving as a guarantee of the bidder's earnestness and financial reliability.

Following the revelation, the Jakson Group was quick to distance itself from the actions taken by JVPL, emphasising that JVPL operates as an independent entity.

In response to the ban, JVPL has initiated legal action by filing a writ petition in the Allahabad High Court, challenging the decision of the Indian Railways.

"Penal action has already been taken against the erring employee in December 2022 who had misappropriated Rs 5.47 lakh and maligned the name of JVPL," the company said.
