"I Became A ‘Sanyasi’ Because Of Ram Temple Movement": Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday (17 January) said that he became a ‘sanyasi' because of the Ram temple movement.

Speaking at an event by a TV channel, CM Yogi also rejected the charge by the Opposition that BJP was trying to take political benefit of the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Ayodhya Ram Mandir on 22 January.

“I have been associated with the temple movement from the beginning. In fact, I became a ‘sanyasi’ because of Ram temple movement. However, I do not intend to take any credit for the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram. We are going to Ayodhya as servants of Lord Ram,” the UP Chief Minister said, The New Indian Express reported.

Yogi said that the Congress and Samajwadi Party leaders were invited to attend the Ayodhya temple event but they refused to be a part of it.

“No one has been stopped from coming to the Ram temple. Those, who will come as servants of Lord Ram are welcomed,” he said.

He also slammed the Opposition, saying that people were aware of the character of the SP and others.

Yogi said that he would have attended the event even if he were not the Chief Minister.

Further, the UP CM said that he would have taken pride in taking a back seat while contributing towards the cause of Lord Ram.

“This is not the time to take credit, Lord Ram is the ultimate divine father,” CM Yogi said.
