Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has courted controversy after he made a derogatory remark on Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai.

Pakistan’s media was questioning the team’s recent performances in the ICC World Cup 2023, but Razzaq cited a distasteful example involving Aishwarya Rai to target the Pakistan Cricket Board.

In response to a question by media regarding Pakistan's dismal performance in the ICC World Cup 2023 in India, Razzaq gave the distasteful example to target the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

While slamming the PCB's intentions, Razzaq gave the example of Bollywood actress and former Miss world Aishwarya Rai, which infuriated many on the social media.

“I'm talking about their (PCB's) intention here. Younis Khan had a good intention as a captain and it gave me confidence to perform better," he said.

"Right now a lot of talk here is surrounded around the Pakistan team and the players' performances in the World Cup. I think we do not have the intention to polish and develop the players," the former Pakistani all-rounder said.

"If you think that by marrying Aishwarya Rai, a good and pious kid would be born, it would never happen,” he added.

Former Pakistan cricketers Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi, who were seated alongside Razzaq, applauded his comment.

However, netizens on social media slammed Razzaq for making such a 'sexist' remark on the Indian movie star.
