In A First, India Set To Chair And Host UNESCO's World Heritage Committee Session In New Delhi

In a historic development, India is set to take the lead as it chairs and hosts the UNESCO World Heritage Committee session in New Delhi from 21 to 31 July this year.

As reported by Hindustan Times, this marks the first instance of a country presiding over and hosting this prestigious committee, positioning New Delhi at the forefront of global discussions on preserving cultural and historical heritage.

It's important to note that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) World Heritage Committee convenes annually, bringing together representatives from 21 member states.

The Permanent Representative of India to UNESCO, Vishal V Sharma, expressed pride in this achievement, highlighting the global recognition of India's commitment to heritage preservation.

The event in New Delhi will also provide a platform for crucial discussions on the conservation of cultural and historical treasures, reinforcing India's role in global cultural stewardship.
