In a historic achievement, the combined market valuation of all listed companies on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has crossed the USD 4-trillion mark.
The 30-share BSE Sensex gained 305.44 points, reaching 66,479.64 in early trade.
The market value of BSE-listed companies has now reached Rs 3,33,26,881.49 crore in morning trade, equivalent to USD 4 trillion at the exchange rate of 83.31, reported Indian Express.
This achievement places BSE in the league of global markets valued at more than USD 4 trillion, alongside major players like the US, China, Japan, and Hong Kong.
The BSE first crossed the USD 1-trillion valuation on 28 May, 2007.
The journey from USD 1 trillion to USD 1.5 trillion took just over seven years. Subsequently, the climb to surpass the USD 2.5-trillion mark occurred on 16 December, 2020.
And recently on 24 May, 2021, BSE-listed companies touched the USD 3-trillion mark
The milestone has broader economic implications, contributing to India's narrative on the global financial stage and showcasing the resilience and growth potential of its capital markets.
