India Hits Back At Pakistan's Kashmir Remarks At UN Human Rights Council, Asks Turkiye To Refrain From "Unsolicited Comments"

In a response to Pakistan's recent mention of Jammu and Kashmir at the UN Human Rights Council, as reported by Economic Times, India firmly stated its position, asserting that it cannot entertain a nation steeped in bloodshed from sponsoring terrorism worldwide.

During the high-level segment of the 55th regular session of the UNHRC in Geneva, India's first secretary in the Permanent Mission to the UN, Anupama Singh, exercised India's Right of Reply to address comments made by Turkiye and Pakistan regarding Kashmir.

Expressing regret over Turkiye’s remarks on India's internal affairs, Singh emphasised the need for refraining from unsolicited commentary in the future.

"Firstly, we regret the comment made by Turkiye on a matter that is an internal affair of India and hope that it would refrain from making unsolicited comments on our internal matters in the future," Singh said.

However, the crux of India's response targeted Pakistan, highlighting its involvement in terrorism and its dire economic situation.

"We are constrained to respond," Singh said.

Singh underscored the irony of Pakistan's critique of India's democratic values while harbouring UN Security Council-sanctioned terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar.

Moreover, India denounced Pakistan's misuse of the UNHRC platform to level false allegations, asserting that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of India.

She rebuked Pakistan's lack of standing on Indian matters, citing Pakistan's own dismal human rights record and systematic persecution of minorities.

Singh also pointed out a recent incident in Pakistan where Christian communities faced brutal attacks, highlighting the hypocrisy in Pakistan's criticisms.
