The Janata Dal (Secular) led by former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has announced that they will contest the Lok Sabha elections independently.
They have ruled out the possibility of forming an electoral alliance with the NDA.
Last week, HD Kumaraswamy, the son of HD Deve Gowda and former Chief Minister, had stated that his party would collaborate with the BJP on various issues, raising speculation about a potential alliance between the two parties for the upcoming elections next year.
Following the suspension of 10 BJP legislators from the Assembly for their "indecent and disrespectful conduct," both the JD(S) and BJP MLAs decided to boycott the Assembly session.
During a press conference in Bengaluru, Deve Gowda reaffirmed that the JD(S) will contest the Lok Sabha elections independently.
The party spokesperson stated that regardless of the number of seats won in the Lok Sabha elections, they would contest independently.
They would carefully select candidates based on their strength in consultation with party workers, he added.
