PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti claimed on Thursday that she was placed under house arrest in order to prevent her from paying tribute to 'Kashmiri martyrs'.
She expressed her determination not to allow the BJP to distort their history or forget their heroes.
In a tweet, the former chief minister stated, "I am currently under house arrest for wanting to visit the Martyr's graveyard today. This comes at a time when the Government of India has attempted to justify the illegal abrogation of Article 370 by making tall claims of normalcy in the Supreme Court."
She also shared visuals on social media, revealing that the main gate of her residence, located in the Khimber area on the outskirts of the city, was locked from the outside.
In the same tweet she continued that "BJP's own heroes such as Vir Sarvarkar, Shyama Prasad Mukheriji, Gowalkar, and Godse, who promoted hatred and division, cannot be imposed on us. We will always admire those who sacrificed their lives for the establishment of democracy in J&K. We will not allow you to distort our history or forget our true heroes. On the occasion of Martyrs Day, I salute their bravery in fighting against despots until the very end."
