Karnataka Cabinet Approves Bill Mandating 100 Per Cent Reservation For Locals In 'C' And 'D' Grade Posts In Private Firms

The Karnataka cabinet has given its nod to a bill that mandates 100 per cent reservation for Kannadigas in private companies for Group C and Group D positions.

In a social media post on platform X, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the cabinet made this decision in a meeting on Monday (15 July).

"The Cabinet meeting held yesterday approved a bill to make recruitment of 100 per cent Kannadigas mandatory for 'C and D' grade posts in all private industries in the state," Siddaramaiah said on X, NDTV reported.

He said it was his government's wish that Kannadigas be given an opportunity to lead a comfortable life in their state and not be deprived of jobs in 'Kannada land'.

"We are a pro-Kannada government. Our priority is to look after the welfare of Kannadigas," the Chief Minister said.

This comes as it was reported that the Karnataka cabinet has approved a bill titled 'Karnataka State Employment of Local Candidates in the Industries, Factories and Other Establishments Bill, 2024.'

This bill, which is set to be tabled in the Assembly on Thursday, focuses on increasing employment opportunities for local residents in various sectors, news agency PTI reported citing sources in the law department.
