Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has refuted rumors of internal strife within the Congress party and critiqued the Janata Dal (Secular) alliance with the BJP, as reported by Hindustan Times.

He emphasised that the JD(S) sought a major overhaul due to frustration.

Shivakumar's statement comes after Congress leader Jagdish Shettar's meeting with BJP's Ramesh Jarkiholi raised internal dispute speculations. Shivakumar dismissed these rumors and praised Shettar's abilities.

He also revealed his awareness of BJP's efforts to destabilise the Congress government, highlighting meetings and offers to party leaders.

Shivakumar underlined the unity of all 136 MLAs and downplayed the significance of party leaders' absence when he arrived at the airport, stating that they remained in contact.

Jagadish Shettar clarified that his meeting with Jarkiholi was a courtesy call, stressing it had no political implications and reaffirming his loyalty to the Congress.

Congress spokesperson Priyank Kharge hinted at ongoing discussions between the Congress and BJP, citing the party's strong position with 136 MLAs.

Laxman Savadi, a former BJP leader who joined the Congress, expressed contentment with his decision and stated his intent to remain in Congress.

Shivakumar indicated continued communication with Satish Jarkiholi to preserve unity within the Congress and counter potential divisions.
