In a deeply disturbing incident, a student in Kalaburagi faced humiliation as he was stripped and paraded half-naked because he refused to attend an Ambedkar Puja in his hostel.
As reported by Times Now, the incident occurred on Thursday (25 January) when the victim's hostel mates, angered by his absence from the puja, subjected him to verbal abuse, physical assault, and the degrading act of public humiliation.
An FIR has been registered against unidentified individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 505(2) (statements conducing to public mischief), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 149 (unlawful assembly).
In a similar unrelated incident in New Delhi's Narela area, three individuals were stripped naked and assaulted by a mob on allegations of stealing a mobile phone.
