Karnataka will be the first state to formulate an employment policy, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday.
“For the first time in the country, an employment policy will be formulated. Under this policy, incentives will be provided on the basis of employment generation," said Bommai, while inaugurating ’Udyami Agu Udyoga Needu’ (Be an entrepreneur, provide employment), a workshop on entrepreneurship.
Assuring maximum incentives and benefits to industries and enterprises that generate maximum employment, Bommai said the state will soon decide on the creation of the policy, which is being contemplated on.
“Karnataka is a business-friendly state. We have enabled ease of doing business. We are enhancing opportunities for business in the state by creating the necessary environment for setting up of business,” he said.
Speaking about the R&D sector in the state, Bommai said, “there are more than 180 international research and development sectors in the state. From biotechnology, engineering to space science, all have their R&D in silicon city Bengaluru which has facilitated skilled human resources as well as industrial development“.
“Karnataka is the only state government that awards an incentive amount of Rs 50 lakh for setting up a start-up," said Bommai, adding that the Department of Industry has decided to provided sector-wise training along with career guidance, but it was up to the youth to take it upon themselves and pledge to create employment opportunities in the state.
The industrial court has also been set up and all aid needed, be it financial or technical, for the set up of businesses in the state shall be provided, assured the CM, while seeking that those belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and backward classes too obtain skill development training and turn entrepreneurs.
