Union Steel and Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy has directed officials to submit a report on the recovery of the country's steel factories, including Karnataka's Bhadravati Iron and Steel Factory.
Kumarawamy reportedly held a meeting with top officials of the Ministry of Steel at the residence of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda before assuming the office.
The focus of the meeting was discussion on the revival of the Bhadravati Iron and Steel Factory, reports Lokmat Times.
During the meeting, Kumaraswamy asked the officials to submit proposals to revive industries with growth potential.
He instructed officials to provide detailed information on the possibilities and opportunities for the rehabilitation of factories.
Officials highlighted the establishment of a steel research centre in Bengaluru, noting that the iron ore available in Kudremukh in Karnataka is of the highest quality in the world.
They suggested that increased focus on research and development in steel would benefit the industries.
Kumaraswamy also shared insights into his previous tenure as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, detailing efforts made for the industrial sector's development.
He explained the concept of "Competing with China" and reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Make in India.
Under this vision, Kumaraswamy emphasised the importance of increasing production, creating jobs, and positioning India as the third-largest economic power globally.
