Along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a total of 14 couples, coming from different social backgrounds and geographies will do the pran-pratishtha ceremony for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya today (22 January) as 'yajmans'.
The list includes Kashi Dom Raja (king of the cremation ground in Varanasi) Anil Chaudhary, who reached Ayodhya along with his wife and mother, Times of India reported. Notably, Doms were considered untouchables.
Representing another Scheduled Caste (SC), Valmiki samaj's Dilip Valmiki arrived from Lucknow and Mahadev Gaikwad, representing Ghumantu (nomadic) tribes arrived from Maharashtra's Latur.
Others on the list according to Deccan Herald are Ramchandra Kharadi from Udaipur; Ram Kui Jemi from Assam; Gurucharan Singh Gill from Jaipur; Krishna Mohan from Hardoi and Ramesh Jain from Multani.
Representing south India are Adalarasan from Tamil Nadu and Lingaraj Basavraj from Karnataka. Vitthal Rao Kamnle from Maharashtra, Kailash Yadav from Kashi, Arun Chowdhury from Palwal in Haryana and Kavindra Pratap Singh from Kashi are also in the list.
The Prime Minister is expected to reach Ayodhya at around 10.25 am, and will be at Ramjanmabhoomi temple site by 10.55 am. The 'pran pratishtha' at the Ram Mandir will begin after 12 pm, and is expected to conclude by 1 pm.
