In Malappuram, Kerala, a gathering in solidarity with Palestine is set to take place this Friday (13 October), with invitations being sent to Ambassador of Palestine to India, Adnan Abu Alhaija, and Islamic University of Gaza Vice Chancellor, Dr Kamlain Shaa’ath.
This convention is being organised under the banner of the Jamaat-e-Islami, as reported by Indian Express.
Dr Nahas Mala, a member of the Jamaat-e-Islami state committee, confirmed that the Palestinian ambassador will address the convention virtually, a commitment made earlier.
However, due to the current escalation in the situation, it is unlikely that Dr Shaa’ath, the Gaza University Vice Chancellor, will participate in the event.
Amid the escalating tensions between Israel and Palestine, several Muslim organisations in Kerala have announced events to express their unwavering solidarity with Gaza.
These gatherings are intended to demonstrate support and unity with the Palestinian people.
The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO), the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, organised a gathering known as "Hamas Square" in Malappuram on Tuesday (10 October).
During this event, participants voiced their support for the Palestinian cause through various slogans.
Jamaat-e-Islami, apart from arranging solidarity events across Kerala, has urged people to offer special prayers to express their unwavering support for Palestine and opposition to Zionism.
The SIO has also arranged rallies in different parts of Kerala to display their solidarity with Hamas.
On Saturday (14 October), the Youth League, the youth wing of the Indian Union Muslim League, will host an "anti-war ring" event in Kozhikode with the aim of expressing solidarity with Palestine and offering their support to the cause.
Amid the ongoing conflict, Hamas militants carried out a violent attack over the weekend, breaching a border fence and resulting in the loss of numerous lives on the Israeli side.
Tragedies unfolded in various locations, including homes, streets, and an outdoor music festival.
