Despite facing controversies over the recitation of 'Kuan Thakur ka' poem targeting upper castes in the Rajya Sabha, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has renominated Manoj Jha for the Upper House.

Other than Jha, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav's friend Sanjay Yadav was nominated for the Rajya Sabha by RJD. They are expected to file their nominations tomorrow (15 February).

Sanjay Yadav hails from Haryana's Mahendragarh and met Tejashwi first when the latter used to play cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL), as per News18. The former then got close to the latter.

Sanjay Yadav used to work in the IT industry after doing his MBA. He joined RJD after leaving his job. Since then, he has been an advisor and guide to Tejashwi Yadav.

It is pertinent to mention that recently, during Nitish Kumar's trust vote in the Bihar Assembly, after he rejoined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), three RJD MLAs had switched sides.

One of them was Chetan Anand, who had spoken against Jha for his statement in the Rajya Sabha. Anand had posted "Hum "thakur" hain" (we are Thakurs) on X in response

Anand is the son of Anand Mohan Singh, a former Bihar legislator who was jailed in the murder case of a public servant. He is a Rajput by caste and hence took the poem targeting Thakurs personally.
