Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voting Begins For 102 Seats In 21 States And UTs

The polling for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 has commenced on Friday (19 April).

As many as 102 Parliamentary Constituencies in 21 States and Union Territories (UTs) are going for polls in the first phase of the voting.

Further, voting is also underway for 92 Assembly Constituencies in the State Assembly Elections in Arunachal (60 seats) and Sikkim (32 seats).

According to the Election Commission, over 16 crore voters are eligible to vote in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, which are being held in seven phases.

The first phase has the highest number of parliamentary constituencies among all phases.

The voters include 8.4 crore Male, 8.23 crore Female and 11,371 Third gender electors.

Around 35.67 lakh first time voters are registered to cast their votes in this phase.

Central forces have been deployed adequately at polling stations to secure the polling process, the EC said.

Webcasting will be done in more than 50 per cent of the polling stations along with deployment of micro observers in all polling stations, it added.
