The final rites of Mukhtar Ansari, the notorious gangster-turned-politician, were conducted at the Kali Bagh graveyard in Mohammadabad, Ghazipur on Saturday, 30 March.
Ansari was laid to rest beside his mother, with a large gathering of supporters present.
Among those attending the funeral were Ansari's younger son, Umar Ansari, and his brother, Afzal Ansari.
The funeral procession, marked by a massive crowd and tight security, traversed from Ansari's residence to the burial ground.
However, the local administration faced challenges in managing the overwhelming crowd, especially as they attempted to force their way into the restricted burial ground.
Despite elaborate security arrangements, chaos erupted as supporters of the deceased broke through barricades to enter the premises.
In a post on X on Friday, Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA and Mukhtar Ansari's nephew Suhaib Ansari said, "My uncle Mukhtar Ansari passed away last night. Tomorrow, at 10 am, he will be buried in our Kali Bagh graveyard of Yusufpur Mohammadabad (Ghazipur). All of you are requested to pray for the forgiveness of the deceased."
