On Thursday (25 May), The Ministry of Finance announced that a Rs 75 coin will be launched to commemorate the inauguration of the new Parliament building.
The ministry's notification states that the circular Rs 75 coin will have a 44mm diameter. It also announced that the coin will feature 'Parliament Complex' as inscription along with the new Parliament building's image on it.
Further, the coin will contain 200 serrations along its edges and be made up of a quaternary alloy with 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel, and 5% zinc. Below the image of the Parliament complex, the year "2023" will be inscribed in international numerals.
While 25 parties, including 7 non-NDA parties, will attend the new Parliament building inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (28 May), 20 opposition parties have opted to boycott the occasion.
This launch is also significant as India also celebrates 75 years of its Independence under the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' initiative of the Government.
