On Tuesday (11 June), the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) announced the arrest of four Bangladeshi nationals residing in the city with fake documents.

During a raid, ATS officials discovered that the accused had also voted in the recent Lok Sabha elections using fake voter ID cards based on forged citizenship documents.

The ATS has identified five more Bangladeshis and is actively searching for them, as per a report by Lokmat Times.

Following orders from the Assistant Police Commissioner, ATS Juhu Unit, Mumbai, one Bangladeshi national has been arrested for obtaining an Indian passport with forged documents. The individual has been remanded in police custody for further investigation after being presented in court.

The accused have been identified as Rubel Hossain Sheikh (33), Sultan Mahmood Sheikh (46), Hafizur Rahman Sheikh (36), and Fakhrul Uddin Sheikh (29).

These individuals illegally entered India and obtained Indian passports, subsequently relocating to Surat, Gujarat, and other areas, where they assisted other Bangladeshi nationals in obtaining Indian passports through forged documents, as stated by the Mumbai ATS.

Furthermore, they have been accused of facilitating acquisition of such passports for anti-national activities. The investigation is ongoing to track down their accomplices. All arrested individuals are currently being interrogated.
