NDA Declares Seat-Sharing In Bihar: BJP To Contest 17, JD(U) 16 And Chirag Paswan's LJP Five Seats As Pashupati Paras Finds No Place

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Vinod Tawde announced the seat-sharing arrangement for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Of the 40 seats in Bihar, the BJP will contest 17 seats and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] 16 seats. Both parties won these many seats in the 2019 elections respectively.

Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) will contest five seats, while Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) and Upendra Kushwaha-led Rashtriya Lok Morcha will contest one seat each.

The LJP will contest much fought over the seat of Hajipur, Ram Vilas Paswan's bastion, along with Vaishali, Samastipur, Khagariya and Jamui. The party won all these seats in the 2019 elections along with Nawada.

This means that there is no place for Chirag Paswan's uncle and Union Minister Pashupati Paras in the NDA. He had led the split in the LJP after Ram Vilas Paswan's death.
