Telangana Chief Minister and Congress leader Revanth Reddy has criticised DMK scion Udhayanidhi Stalin for his controversial remarks regarding Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism).
Responding to a question about the appropriateness of Udhayanidhi's remarks on Sanatana Dharma in an interview with Times Now, Revanth Reddy stated, "It is absolutely wrong. Who says it is right? It is his mindset."
He also mentioned the need to hold individuals like Udhayanidhi Stalin accountable for such statements.
"I’m Telangana Congress President. I’m the Chief Minister of the state. It is necessary to punish people like him," he added.
Responding to questions about the alliance with DMK, Reddy clarified that even within a family, individuals may hold differing views, asserting that Udhayanidhi's stance is his own.
It's important to note that earlier, Udhayanidhi Stalin had sparked controversy in September 2023 during a conference titled "Eradicate Sanatana Conference," where he called for the eradication of Hinduism similar to diseases like dengue and malaria.
The remarks had put the I.N.D.I alliance in a difficult position, with several opposition parties distancing themselves from Udhayanidhi's statement.
However, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge's son, Priyank Kharge had subtly endorsed Udhayanidhi's remarks, leading to further criticism.
