'No One Can Stop CAA, We Will Implement It': Home Minister Amit Shah At Kolkata Rally

In a spirited rally to kickstart the BJP's Lok Sabha campaign in Kolkata, Home Minister Amit Shah reaffirmed the Central government's determination to implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

As reported by NDTV, Shah's address covered a range of issues, including appeasement, infiltration, corruption, and political violence, as he called on the people to oust Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's government and elect the BJP in the upcoming assembly polls.

Shah, praising the significant turnout at the rally, interpreted it as a reflection of the people's sentiment and boldly predicted that the BJP would secure a two-thirds majority in the state in 2026.

He emphasised that the BJP's performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls would lay the groundwork for its success in the subsequent assembly elections.

Addressing the contentious issue of the CAA, Shah noted that Mamata Banerjee had been opposing it, but he asserted that nothing could prevent its implementation.

"...In the state in which so much infiltration occurs, will development take place there?... That's why Mamata Banerjee is opposing CAA... But I would say that CAA is the law of the country, and no one can stop it... We will implement it...," Shah was quoted as saying by ANI.

The CAA has been in a state of limbo as the central government is yet to finalise its rules amid strong opposition from various quarters.

Shah, pointing to the intended beneficiaries of the law, argued that they have an equal right to citizenship.
