A non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa by a Bengaluru special court on Thursday (13 June).
Yediyurappa is accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old. A Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case was filed against him by Bengaluru Police in March this year.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had summoned Yediyurappa for questioning and is now likely to arrest him soon as the former CM did not get any relief from the court.
Yediyurappa is currently in New Delhi and is expected to return to Bengaluru soon. Earlier, he had denied allegations against him and said that the case has been twisted against him.
The former CM had also approached the high court seeking the annulment of the POCSO case filed against him. However, he had not responded to the CID summons leading to the issuance of warrant.
