'Not Even A Drop Of Water Has Leaked Into Garbhagriha Of Ram Mandir': Temple Trust Secretary Champat Rai

After some media portals reported leakage of water from the roof in the newly built Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, the general secretary of the temple trust, Champat Rai issued a clarification.

"The first thing is that in the garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) where Lord Ramlalla is seated, not a single drop of water has dripped from the roof, nor has water entered the sanctum sanctorum from anywhere," Rai said.

He further explained that the water that fell on the ground floor of the temple came through the electric conduit pipe as the work on the first floor of the temple is still going on and it has not been made water-tight.

"These conduits and junction boxes are made water-tight and hidden in the surface of the upper flooring. Since the work of electricity, waterproofing and flooring is in progress on the first floor, water entered all the junction boxes and the same water fell on the ground floor through the conduit," Rai elaborated.

He said that while it appears that the water is leaking from the roof, the reality is that the water is traveling to the ground floor through the conduit pipe. He assured when the first-floor work is completed, everything will be water-tight.

Rai said that there are proper arrangements in the temple premises for the management of rainwater and all rainwater will go to the recharge pit. He also assured that no compromise in the quality of construction work is being done.

"The construction work of the temple and the boundary wall is being done under the supervision of the engineers of two most reputed companies of India, L&T and Tata, and Ashish Sompura, son of Shri Chandrakant Sompuraji, the current successor of the tradition of many generations of construction of temples using stones, and experienced sculptors," he said.
