In a bid to challenge the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its strategy for the upcoming state assembly elections.
This comes as BJP has announced a list of 112 candidates for the election.
The party plans to organise a series of 100 election rallies across the state, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah headlining as star campaigners.
According to Odisha BJP vice-president Golak Mohapatra, mega rallies featuring top BJP leaders will be conducted in all 21 Lok Sabha constituencies.
Alongside Modi and Shah, BJP president JP Nadda and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are also expected to address these rallies.
The saffron party has fielded Jayanta Kumar Sarangi from Puri, Prakash Chandra Sethi from Cuttack Sadar, and Jagannath Pradhan from Bhubaneswar Central.
Meanwhile, Odisha BJP chief Manmohan Samal will be contesting from Chandabali, and Manoj Kumar Mehar will fight from Junagarh.
Prime Minister Modi has already addressed two rallies in Sambalpur and Chandikhole, with other senior leaders like Rajnath Singh and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Additionally, various chief ministers from BJP-ruled states, including Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh and Himanta Biswa Sarma of Assam, are slated to address rallies in different assembly segments.
However, BJD MLA Sudhir Samal remains confident in the incumbent government's popularity, stating that the people of Odisha have already made up their minds to re-elect Naveen Patnaik.
It's important to note that the assembly elections in Odisha will be held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls.
In the last assembly polls, the BJP had won 23 of 147 seats with 32.49 per cent votes while the ruling BJD had won 112 with 44.71 per cent votes.
