Odisha: Government Gears Up For Grand Inauguration Of Shree Mandira Parikrama Project Around Jagannath Temple On 17 January

The Odisha government, led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, is set to embark on a month-long initiative to mobilise around 10,000 people daily for the Shree Mandira Parikrama Project.

This Rs 800-crore heritage corridor, encircling the revered Jagannath Temple in Puri, is scheduled for inauguration tomorrow (17 January).

Under the directive of Patnaik, district collectors have been tasked with ensuring the smooth movement of devotees from every panchayat and civic body to Puri starting 22 January.

Special funds have been allocated for this purpose, emphasising the project's significance.

As reported by Economic Times, Panchayati Raj Secretary S K Lohani stated, "smooth movement of devotees from your district to Puri for witnessing the Shree Mandira Parikrama Prakalpa is the priority."

Collectors are also instructed to requisition an adequate number of buses for devotee transportation, with elaborate plans in place at transit camps for their stay.

The Parikrama project, a significant infrastructure development around the Jagannath Temple, aims to enhance the experience of lakhs of devotees.

The grand inauguration on 17 January, presided over by Patnaik, anticipates massive arrangements with senior government officers overseeing preparations.

The Parikrama, a 75-metre free passage around the outer walls of the shrine, is designed to ensure temple security and provide civic amenities to devotees.

In anticipation of the event, Patnaik has called on the people to dedicate themselves to the devotion of Mahaprabhu Jagannath.

He appeals for wider participation in the celebrations by lighting diyas, reciting bhajans, and blowing conches on 17 January.
