The security forces on Saturday (23 December) foiled an infiltration attempt at the International Border (IB) in Jammu, resulting in the death of one terrorist.

According to Army officials, the operation began when suspected movement of four heavily-armed terrorists was detected through surveillance devices on the intervening night of 22 December and 23 December.

The troops fired on the infiltrating terrorists and one of them was hit and fell down.

However, the deceased's body was pulled back across the International Border by his associates.

"Infiltration bid foiled in IB sector of Khour, Akhnoor. Suspected move of four terrorists seen through own surveillance devices on the night of 22/23 Dec 23. Effective fire brought down. Terrorists seen dragging one body back across the IB," Indian Army's White Knight Corps said on X.

This comes after a terrorist ambush on two military vehicles in J&K’s Poonch district that left at least five soldiers dead and three wounded on Thursday.

Amid increased aerial surveillance of the area, the army has intensified ground combing operations, especially in the forest area of Dera ki Gali in the Rajouri sector of Poonch district.
