10.28 per cent of voter turnout was reported till 9 am in 49 constituencies going to polls in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections today (20 May).
West Bengal recorded the highest turnout with 15.35 per cent voting, while another big state Maharashtra recorded the lowest with 6.33 per cent as voting is majorly in urban areas.
Odisha, Bihar and Jammu and Kashmir also recorded voter turnout in single digit percentages. Jharkhand, Ladakh and Uttar Pradesh report 11.68 per cent, 10.51 per cent and 12.89 per cent turnout respectively.
The highest turnout in Jharkhand was reported in Hazaribagh where 12.04 per cent voted till 9 am. Here there is a three-cornered contest between BJP, Congress and CPI.
