Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the eighteenth instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on Saturday (5 October) in Washim, Maharashtra.
This initiative, aimed at providing direct financial assistance to farmers, will see over 9.4 crore beneficiary farmers across the country receive more than Rs 20,000 crore (approximately $2.4 billion) through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), bypassing any middlemen.
Launched in 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme provides Rs 6,000 annually to landholding farmers in three equal instalments.
With this latest release, the total disbursement under the scheme will surpass Rs 3.45 lakh crore, supporting more than 11 crore farmers since its inception.
As part of the 18th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, around 91.5 lakh farmers in Maharashtra are set to receive over Rs 1,900 crore in direct financial assistance.
Maharashtra ranks second in the country for the highest disbursement under the scheme, with around Rs 32,000 crore transferred to 1.2 crore farmers across 17 instalments.
Alongside the PM-KISAN instalment distribution, the Prime Minister will also release the additional benefit of around Rs 2,000 crore to the farmers of the Maharashtra under the fifth instalment of the Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana, to further support their efforts.
