Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time on Sunday (9 June) after his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 240 seats in the recently held Lok Sabha elections.

While this number was less than the majority mark of 272, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a comfortable majority with the help of allies like Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Janta Dal (United) [JD(U)].

69 NDA leaders took oath with the PM as part of his Council of Ministers. Leaders from seven neighbouring countries -- Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Mauritius, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Seychelles were present during the ceremony.
