Prime Minister Narendra Modi's oath-taking ceremony is likely to be held on Sunday (9 June), a shift of a day from earlier reported 8 June.
Among the 8,000 dignitaries to be present at the ceremony, the top leaders from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, and Mauritius will also mark their presence.
The final date and time are still being worked out to accommodate the schedule of heads of state from other countries, as per Indian Express sources.
It is expected to be finalised by the end of the day when all the invited countries send the schedules of their respective heads.
Earlier, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu had planned his oath-taking ceremony as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on 9 June.
However, with a shift in PM Modi's oath, he is also likely to postpone his to 12 June to avoid any clash as he wants senior BJP leaders to attend his event.
“He will be sworn in most likely on June 12. Chandrababu will be in Delhi on June 7 for the NDA parliamentary party meeting" and return after PM Modi's ceremony, TDP spokesperson K Pattabhi Ram said.
PM Modi is set to assume office for a historic third consecutive term after the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 293 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
In PM Modi's previous swearing-in ceremonies, leaders of SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries attended in 2014, while leaders of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) countries attended in 2019.
