Political Buzz: Bharat Jodo Yatra To Take Christmas To New Year Break For Rahul Gandhi's Foreign Sojourn

Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' will enter Delhi through the Badarpur border on the morning of December 24th, before it goes for a nine-day hiatus.

According to the Congress Party, the Bharat Jodo Yatra will take a nine-day break in Delhi starting on December 25th to allow for maintenance of the 60 containers that house the Yatris. The march is scheduled to resume on January 3rd, 2022.

The break in the Bharat Jodo Yatra coincides with Christmas and New Year's celebrations, leading to speculation that Congress Party leader Rahul Gandhi may take his annual foreign trip during this time. This would not be the first time Gandhi has left the country during a campaign.

Last year, too, in December, Gandhi left the country before the Congress Party was set to begin its campaign in Punjab. The party lost the state and saw its entire state leadership decimated in the state elections.

Gandhi's frequent foreign travels have led to the perception that he is a part-time politician and a full-time traveler. The current Bharat Jodo Yatra was intended to portray Gandhi as a dedicated and committed leader in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections.

However, a recent announcement of a nine-day break in the yatra may reignite few questions on Gandhi's commitment and priorities. Gandhi had previously stated that the yatra would not stop under any circumstances, but the planned break appears to contradict this statement.
