Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has landed in Texas, US, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s high-profile visit to the country later this month.
In a social media post, Gandhi said he was eagerly waiting for meaningful discussions that would further strengthen the bond between the two nations.
"I eagerly look forward to engaging in meaningful discussions and insightful conversations that will further strengthen the bond between our two nations during this visit," Gandhi said in a Facebook post.
During his visit, Gandhi will be holding several interactions in Washington DC and Dallas, including at the University of Texas.
He is also scheduled to meet the local Indian community and some 'technocrats', and will also have dinner with the leaders of the Dallas area.
According to Sam Pitroda, the chief of Indian Overseas Congress and Rahul Gandhi's close aide, he will also visit Washington DC where we plan to interact with various people.
Rahul's US tour comes over a week before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to New York, where he will address a mega community event on 22 September at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island in New York.
PM Modi will also address the UN’s landmark 'Summit of the Future' that is being convened at the world body’s headquarters on 22 and 23 September.
