Rahul Gandhi has launched another attack on Indian democracy, that too, from foreign shores.

During his recent lecture at Cambridge, Gandhi accused India's democracy of being under attack and called on Western nations to take notice.

He repeated these allegations at the Indian Journalists Association in London. On being questioned on defaming India abroad, he alleged that even the prime minister has talked about "India's Lost Decade" on foreign soil.

While speaking on the recent raids on the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) offices across India, he argued that its was a form of "voice suppression," claiming that the BJP's "new Idea of India" seeks to silence the critics.

He also asserted that this suppression of voices has been ongoing for the past nine years, with journalists being intimidated, attacked, and threatened. Journalists who support the government are rewarded.

Sounding analogous to Beijing, Gandhi reiterated his claim that the Chinese have entered Indian territory and killed Indian soldiers. He contradicted the official statement of the Indian Army and the government in London by claiming that 2000 square kilometers of Indian territory is under the control of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

He added that the Prime Minister's statement that not a single inch of land has been taken has destroyed the negotiation position.

Law Minister's Response to Gandhi's Criticism

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju launched a strong criticism of the "tukde tukde gang" and their association with "anti-India foreign entities" aiming to launch a frontal attack against India. He was speaking at the Central Government Law Officers' Conference at Bhubaneswar.

The Minister's remarks are being seen as a response to Rahul Gandhi's allegations that constraints were being put on the Parliament, press and the Judiciary in the country.

Rijiju said that there are attempts to discredit Indian democracy and the judiciary, but emphasized that the Indian judiciary is independent and cannot be forced to act as an opposition party.

Rijiju stressed that the judiciary's decisions must be respected and that the independence of the judiciary cannot be questioned by anyone.

On Twitter, Rijiju defended Indian democracy, stating that it is deeply ingrained in the country's fabric and cannot be questioned. He also argued that any campaign with ulterior motives aimed at defaming India and its democratic system would ultimately fail.

He wrote, "the members of Tukde-Tukde Gang should better understand that India has embarked upon journey of great rejuvenation under the leadership of PM Modi. We the people of INDIA will give them a befitting reply."
