RailTel has been chosen for providing high speed Internet broadband bandwidth for live broadcasting of football matches to be played in Manipur leg of the Durand cup tournament from 18 August to 5 September 2022.
RailTel will ensure that the viewers are able to enjoy high quality live broadcasting of the 10 matches to be played at the Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal over TV channels.
India’s most prestigious and historic football tournament Durand Cup for the first time is being held in more than one venue — Kolkata (West Bengal), Guwahati (Assam) and Imphal (Manipur).
In the Manipur leg of the tournament where 10 matches will be played, RailTel, a PSU of the railways, has been selected by the Manipur government to provide Internet broadband bandwidth through modern optical fibre technology for live broadcasting of matches in Imphal.
In addition to live broadcasting of matches, RailTel is also providing broadband Internet connectivity for the event offices, venue control room, for security CCTV cameras and the media centre during the event. RailTel is installing highest quality 1:1 protected Internet lease lines for this purpose.
RailTel has been chosen in view of its expertise in pushing high speed optical fiber based reliable and stable broadband internet connectivity all over the country, including remote mountainous terrains in the north east of India.
The present tournament is the 131st edition of the Durand Cup, the oldest football tournament in Asia, and it is the first edition since it got recognized by Asian Football Confederation. A total of 20 teams comprising eleven Indian Super League (ISL) teams, five I-League teams, and four teams from the Indian Armed Forces will compete for the prestigious title.
The Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal that will host 10 matches will see its 35,000+capacity utilised to the full.
Football being one of the most popular sports in the entire north east of India coupled with the fact that at our name of this magnitude and stature is being hosted in Manipur for the first time, will attract fans from across Manipur, perhaps even from the neighboring states of Nagaland and Mizoram also.
Railtel will ensure that the viewers are able to enjoy high quality live broadcasting of the event over TV channels.
Two local teams from Manipur, NEROCA and TRAU are among the participating teams of the tournament.
