Rajasthan: After Chhattisgarh And Madhya Pradesh Surprises, Anticipation Builds As BJP Gears Up To Unveil The New Chief Minister's Face Today

Following surprising developments in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to announce the chief minister for Rajasthan today (12 December).

Newly-elected BJP MLAs are scheduled to convene in Jaipur at 4 pm to elect the legislative party leader, reported NDTV.

The focus is on whether the party will stick with two-time chief minister Vasundhara Raje or opt for a generational shift, similar to recent decisions in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

In the recent elections, the BJP secured 115 seats in the 200-member assembly.

Results were declared on 3 December, with the Karanpur seat in Sriganganagar district excluded following the death of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Kooner.

Speculation surrounds the potential chief minister candidates, with Vasundhara Raje as a frontrunner, along with Union ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Other contenders include Diya Kumari from the erstwhile Jaipur royal family, state unit chief C P Joshi, and senior leader Kirodi Lal Meena.

Notably, in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP chose former cabinet minister Mohan Yadav over the party's longest-serving chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

In Chhattisgarh, the party selected tribal leader Vishnu Deo Sai.

Both Yadav and Sai will be sworn in tomorrow (13 December).
