"Respect For Each Others Concerns": PM Modi's Response To Canada's 'Rule Of Law' Congratulatory Message After Four Days

Four days after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated Narendra Modi for his electoral victory, the Indian PM has responded.

"Canada stands ready to work with his government to advance the relationship between our nations’ peoples—anchored to human rights, diversity, and the rule of law," Trudeau had said.

The usage of terms like "human rights, diversity and rule of law" was not taken in good taste by Indian experts as Canada has often alleged India of discriminating against Sikhs and other communities.

Moreover, when India has urged Canada to take action against Khalistani elements working on its soil, it has always deferred taking any action by citing the "rule of law".

Hence, PM Modi's response was in a similar taste. Thanking the Canadian PM, he said, "India looks forward to working with Canada based on mutual understanding and respect for each others concerns."

Here, "mutual understanding and respect for each others concerns" is the highlight as India has alleged Canada of not giving much weight to the dossiers shared on Khalistani terrorists based in Canada.

Moreover, PM Modi has not taken four days to respond to any congratulatory message, as happened with Justin Trudeau's message.

This indicates that the diplomatic rift between the two nations, which began with Trudeau's allegations of involvement of Indian agencies in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, is not getting better any time soon.

Recently, four Indian nationals were arrested in Canada in this case. However, India has been claiming that no evidence has been shared by Canada yet in the case.
