"Respecting" INDI Alliance, AAP Offers One Lok Sabha Seat To Congress In Delhi; Blames Rahul Gandhi's Yatra For Delay In Talks

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) offered one Lok Sabha seat in Delhi to Congress under the seat-sharing arrangement for INDI Alliance, according to the announcement made by AAP leader Sandeep Pathak on Tuesday (13 February).

Delhi has seven Lok Sabha seats, of which AAP plans to contest six. Earlier, it was reported that the AAP might offer three seats to the Congress and contest four seats itself. However, that plan could not be finalised due to no further meetings.

Pathak said, "We had two official meetings with the Congress party regarding seat sharing but there was no result of these meetings. Other than these two official meetings, no other meeting has taken place in the last month."

He blamed Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra for the delay in the meeting and expressed concern over winning the elections with such an attitude. He reiterated his previous announcement of three candidates from Assam.

The AAP leader pointed out that Congress has zero seats in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha in Delhi and that the party could win only nine of the 250 seats in MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) elections.

He explained that the Congress does not deserve a single seat based on this data. However, he noted that just data is not important and they respect "Alliance dharma" and hence are offering one seat to Congress.

"We are not announcing candidates today. I hope that the talks will resume soon. Even then if there is no conclusion, then in the next few days, we will announce candidates for our six seats and begin our preparations," he concluded.
