Indian Railways has recruited over 7,000 women in various posts in Group C category, since the Rozgar Mela conducted across the country since October 2022.

The Railways has recruited a total of 139,652 candidates in various posts ranging from Level-1 to Level-6, including station master, loco pilot, commercial clerk, guard, nursing staff and teaching staff, against the target of filling up 1.52 lakh vacancies by October 2023.

Appointment letters have been provided to 132,237 male applicants and 7,415 women — out of which total 90,000 have joined.

AS of now 1.39 lakh posts were filled up in the seven-phase Rozgar Mela and the rest would be filled up this month only, the Railways maintains.

While 90 per cent of these posts are of safety category, there also other categories like nursing staff and teaching staff, which were mostly filled up by women aspirants.

A massive recruitment drive was launched two years back to fill over 1.52 lakh posts in different categories with the entire hiring process expected to complete by October 2023.

Examinations were being held for filling up these posts in different categories ranging from Level-1 to Level-6 across the country.

The process involving computer-based test, physical test, medical test and certificate verifications were being carried out for recruitment of railway helpers, loco drivers, guards, station masters and commercial clerks among other posts.
