The Samajwadi Party's (SP) demand for DNA tests in rape cases is going to cost its leader Nawab Singh Yadav, who was accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in his college.

This is because Yadav's DNA sample matched with the fluid found in the victim's body, confirming rape as well as the crime of the former aide of SP national president Akhilesh Yadav.

The accused was arrested in Kannauj on the night of 11 August when the Uttar Pradesh Police found him in an objectionable position when they reached the spot on the victim's 112 call.

With the forensic report in hand, the police are set to file a charge sheet under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Notably, the accused has been the MP representative of Akhilesh's wife Dimple Yadav. He was also seen on stage with Akhilesh and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the 2024 Lok Sabah election campaign.

However, the SP is claiming that Yadav was not active in the party for the past five to six years. Nonetheless, SP leader Juhie Singh defended Yadav and tried to shame the 15-year-old victim.

Singh demanded narco and DNA tests and "concrete evidence" if Yadav is actually a culprit and if not, then those involved in the conspiracy should also be brought to the public.

The SP, however, will not be able to defend Yadav anymore as the police now have solid proof. The girl had earlier accused Yadav of forcing her to remover her clothes when she went to him in search of a job.
