On Thursday (4 January), India expressed its support for Iran, which has suffered the loss of over 100 lives due to two bombings in the southeastern city of Kerman.
Newly-appointed spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal wrote on X, “We are shocked and saddened on the terrible bombings in the Kerman City of Iran. At this difficult time, we express our solidarity with the government and people of Iran.”
Iranian authorities have reported that over 100 individuals were killed and many more injured during a memorial event for the esteemed commander Qassem Soleimani, who lost his life in a 2020 U.S. drone strike.
"Terrorists remotely detonated two explosive devices that were strategically placed along the path to the Martyrs' Cemetery in Kerman," revealed an anonymous official to the state-run news agency, IRNA.
Jaiswal conveyed, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and with the wounded."
