Smothered Using Pillow, Body Cut Into Pieces: Fresh Disturbing Details Emerge In Bangladeshi MP Murder Case, Here's All

On Wednesday (13 June), the West Bengal CID revealed some disturbing new details in the murder case of Bangladeshi MP Anwarul Azim Anar.

As per the investigators, he was smothered with a pillow soon after entering a flat in New Town, Kolkata, according to a report from the Hindustan Times.

Following the murder, the accused dismembered his body, placed the pieces in plastic bags, and disposed of them in various locations in the New Town area and the Bagjola canal before fleeing to different hideouts.

This information was revealed to the police by an arrested suspect, Mohammad Siyam Hussain. The accused also claimed that some parts of Anar's body were placed in a trolley suitcase and dumped near the Bangaon border with Bangladesh.

Hussain, who was arrested in Nepal, told the police that a woman, reportedly the girlfriend of Akhtaruzzaman — a US national and the alleged prime suspect — has helped in the murder.

Anar, who was on a personal visit to India, was reported missing on 18 May from Baranagar in North 24 Parganas.

By 22 May, officials from Dhaka and West Bengal confirmed that he had been murdered.

Subsequently, the Dhaka police and West Bengal CID launched an investigation, resulting in the arrest of five individuals, including three in Dhaka.

On 9 June, one of the suspects led the CID to a canal bank in South 24 Parganas, where they recovered bones believed to be from a male human. Two days later, the police recovered several kilos of flesh from a septic tank in an apartment in North 24 Parganas.

“Preliminary reports have confirmed that the flesh belongs to a human being. We will now conduct DNA tests to confirm whether it belongs to the Bangladeshi MP. That will take some time,” a CID official stated.

An initial investigation revealed that Akhtaruzzaman, a close friend of the MP, had paid huge sums of money to those involved in the crime. Akhtaruzzaman, who owns a flat in Kolkata, is currently believed to be residing in the US.
