Statehood And Terror-Free Future: PM Modi Outlines BJP’s Vision For J&K At Doda Election Rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (14 September) announced that BJP will work for restoring the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing an election rally in J&K's Doda, PM Modi also slammed the Opposition, holding them responsible for the dire state that J&K was in for decades.

"This year, the elections to Jammu Kashmir assembly are going to be held between three dynasties and the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. The three dynasties of Congress, National Conference and PDP will be standing against the aspirational youth of Jammu and Kashmir," he said.

"These three dynasties are responsible for the dire state that J&K was in for decades. They indulged in corruption and made you struggle for your basic needs. These families laid the foundation for terrorism and extremism in the valley. They provided a safe haven for the propagation of terrorism for personal gains," PM Modi said.

PM Modi said that the residents of Jammu and Kashmir, regardless of their religion, region and cultural affiliation are a priority for the BJP government.

"I guarantee to safeguard your rights. The BJP government will also be the one to restore full statehood status to Jammu & Kashmir," he said.

He said that BJP will make a terror-free and tourist-friendly J&K.

Remembering Kashmiri Pandit Tikalal Taplu, who was killed by terrorists three decades ago, PM Modi said that his assassination was followed by an endless series of atrocities against Kashmiri Pandits.

He said that it was BJP that raised the voice of Kashmiri Pandits and worked in their interest.

He said that the J&K BJP has announced the Tika Lal Taplu scheme for the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus.

This will expedite the process of securing the rights of Kashmiri Hindus, he added.

In a sharp attack on the Opposition, PM Modi accused them of manipulating the Constitution for their own political gains. He also highlighted the BJP’s efforts to restore the rights of the people in Jammu & Kashmir.

“These days, they carry the Constitution in their pockets, using it as a facade to cover up their dark deeds. The truth is that every child in Jammu & Kashmir knows what’s really going on," he said, in an apparent reference to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

"What was the reason that there were two Constitutions operating in our Jammu & Kashmir? Why were the people here denied the same rights that the rest of the country enjoyed? What was the reason that our Pahari brothers and sisters were deprived of reservations for so many years?" PM Modi asked.

"In Jammu & Kashmir, they [Opposition] didn’t even mention SC/ST and OBC,” PM Modi said.

“For the first time, many in Jammu & Kashmir have been granted the right to vote, thanks to the steps taken by our government,” the Prime Minister added.

“India's Constitution gives everyone the right to vote. But for 75 years, those who claimed to hold the Constitution close had taken away this right from some of you,” Modi said.

He urged the people of J&K to vote for BJP on the 18 September, the date of the first phase polling in the UT, so that the party can bring peace, prosperity and security to Jammu and Kashmir.

"The BJP's resolve, combined with your support, will create a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Jammu & Kashmir. That is why on 18 September, you must send all BJP candidates to the Assembly with a strong majority," he said.
