Stay On Kejriwal's Bail Continues As Delhi High Court Reserves Judgment After Hearing ED's Plea In Liquor Policy Case

After hearing arguments from both sides, the Delhi High Court on Friday (21 June) reserved its judgment on the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) plea against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's bail.

Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court had granted bail to Kejriwal in the Delhi liquor excise policy On Thursday. This was challenged by the ED in the Delhi High Court and the matter was taken up for urgent hearing.

The ED argued in Delhi High Court that the Rouse Avenue Court neither granted the opportunity to the central investigative agency to present the merits of the case nor considered statements of bribe givers.

Representing Kejriwal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Vikram Chaudhari argued that the trial court passed a short order, as it did not want to write an essay while covering all relevant aspects.

The court then dictated its order for issuing a notice in the petition. The case may be listed before the roster bench, it said while adding that the verdict is reserved for two to three days.

Notably, the Delhi High Court had stayed the bail until the hearing of ED's plea. The stay will continue till the pronouncement of the verdict, the court said reserving its order.
