On Tuesday (13 August), Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin gave the green light to 15 industrial projects valued at around Rs 44,125 crore according to a report from the Times of India.
The undertakings cover various sectors including motor vehicles, electronics, food processing, renewable energy, battery manufacturing etc, expected to create around 24,700 jobs.
The Tamil Nadu cabinet has also given nod to several policies for the energy department such as a pump storage policy, a small hydel policy and a wind re-powering and life extension policy.
The government has also cleared several incentive schemes for industrial projects as well, according to the same report.
State Finance Minister Thangam Thensarasu has stated that CM Stalin will inaugurate the housing for 18,720 workers of Foxconn, constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 706.5 crore.
The government has also cleared global capability centres of major pharmaceutical companies such as AstraZeneca and UPS.
Industries Minister T R B Rajaa who was also part of the cabinet meeting which cleared the above proposals emphatically stated, “Newer sectors are being pulled into Tamil Nadu. Very soon, you will hear that the electronics sector is moving into other parts of Tamil Nadu."
