Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (8 July) laid the foundation stone for various infrastructure projects worth Rs 6100 crore and addressed a public meeting after performing puja at the Bhadrakali temple.
Taking a swipe at the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), he said “KCR government means the most corrupt government, and now their corruption has spread to Delhi as well, in what is being seen as a reference to KCR's daughter Kavitha who is under scrutiny for her role in the Delhi liquor scam.
“The people of Telangana should note that all these dynasty-run parties have the foundation of corruption”, he added.
Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Union Tourism Minister and newly appointed BJP state president G Kishan Reddy, former state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and other leaders attended the event.
Among the projects for which PM Modi laid the foundation stone are the four-laning of the 68-kilometre long Karimnagar-Warangal section of NH-563, the 108-kilometre long Mancherial–Warangal section of the Nagpur-Vijayawada Economic Corridor and a Railway wagon manufacturing unit at Kazipet.
The visit is significant as it comes after months of infighting in the state BJP. It also comes at a time when the Congress is resurgent in the state after the victory in Karnataka.
