Those Who Press NOTA Are Disgruntled BJP Voters, Bring Them Back: Yogi In Review Meeting

Taking cognisance of rising NOTA (None Of The Above) voters in the Lok Sabha elections amid BJP's poor performance in the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasised the need to address voter dissatisfaction.

The Chief Minister believes that all those who pressed the NOTA button are BJP supporters who did so out of discontent.

Addressing a review meeting of Lok Sabha election results with BJP representatives from Gorakhpur division on Sunday (16 June), he highlighted the importance of understanding and resolving these grievances to bring back the disgruntled BJP voters.

The Chief Minister discussed the shortcomings that led to the candidates receiving fewer votes in several assembly constituencies compared to the previous assembly elections.

He instructed the representatives to identify those who pressed the NOTA button based on the voter list and address their grievances.

He emphasised that it is crucial to understand why beneficiaries of welfare schemes did not vote for the BJP.

He also mentioned the misinformation spread by the opposition over abolition of reservations to SCs.

Several representatives attributed the lower voting percentage and higher bogus votes for the reduced support to the BJP.

In response, Yogi Adityanath noted that all representatives and BJP officials have access to the voter list. He urged them to start working now to increase voter turnout in the 2027 Assembly elections.

He also directed them to work for identifying and removing bogus votes from the list and to include the names of those who are currently not on the voter list.
