Three terrorists are reported to have been killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

These gunfights began after troops begin search operations following the detection of suspicious movements.

Two anti-terror operations are currently in progress near the Line of Control in Kupwara district, while another encounter is unfolding in the Rajouri district.

The first encounter started in Kupwara's Tangdhar sector on Wednesday (28 August) evening after troops intercepted an infiltration attempt.

"Based on intelligence inputs with respect to likely infiltration bids, a Joint Operation was launched by Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir police on the intervening night of 28-29 Aug 24 in general area Machhal, Kupwara. Suspicious movement was observed in bad weather and was engaged with effective firing by own troops; two terrorists are likely to have been neutralised," the Indian Army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said in a post on X.

This morning, the Army thwarted another infiltration attempt in Kupwara's Machil sector, where one terrorist is believed to have been killed, according to the Army.

In Rajouri district, security forces initiated an operation in the Lathi area following information about the presence of terrorists.
